Why chemical earthing in Haridwar is important?
It is an earthing which helps to protect life and property from high voltages. Earthing prevents the risk of the damage of the equipment from leakage current. Chemical earthing requires a basic system for operation and safety reasons. Under this process, Grounding is also played a very important role in chemical earthing. It is applied to provide the return path to the current. the current-carrying part is connected to the ground. It facilitates in balancing the unbalance load and as a safeguard to reduce unbalance voltage. In hilly areas like Uttarakhand It uses graphite or bentonite-based compound along with electrodes either a pipe or a rod made of galvanized iron- G.I or Copper-made pipe or rod which helps in improving reducing the soil resistivity and soil condition. Generally, charcoal and salt are used to improve the resistance of soil which is as per IEEE 80 14.5 (a). But it has certain drawbacks as charcoal and salt leach to the soil so we have to maintain the earth's pits in regular intervals but when we talk about chemical compound which uses bentonite and graphite then it is far better as compared to salt and charcoal.
What is the importance of good earthing installation:-
- low Resistance
- Chemical earthing does not require water, coal, salt-like in plate earthing so that's why it is known as maintenance-free earthing.
- Higher corrosion resistance
- conductors of the sufficient mechanical strength withstanding high fault currents with zero evidence of the fusing.
- Chemical Electrode should not be installed on made-up soil.
- Chemical earthing life is longer as compared to traditional earthing which is plate earthing and it gives us stable earth resistance in all seasons.
- It is the easy path to the flow of the short-circuit current even after the failure of the installation.
Do you know which Earthing is Useful - "Plate and Chemical in Haridwar"
- Plate Earthing - The plate Earthing are two types either copper or galvanized iron. This plate selected should be of certain specified Dimensions, Plate is connected to the electrical conductors to drive the electric current inside the earth. In plate earthing, plates manufacture either copper or galvanized iron with different dimensions. Plate earthing helps to protect from electric shock, protect from fire as a result of earth leakage current through the unwanted path and ensure that no carrying current conductor rises to a potential with respect to the general mass of earth than its designed insulation.
- Chemical earthing is divided into two categories Pipe earthing and rod earthing. If we talk about pipe earthing either galvanized iron or copper. This should of certain specified dimensions, The size of the pipe depends on the type of soil and magnitude of the current. The dimension of the pipe is usually 50 mm in diameter and 7.5 feet in length for ordinary soil or greater for dry and rocky soil on the other hand Rod earthing is work likely the same as pipe earthing. But little differences are there like the diameter of the copper rod is 13.5mm and galvanized iron is 18mm and length usually above 7 feet. The higher length of the chemical electrode helps to reduce the soil resistance values.
Best Method of Installation of Chemical Earthing in Haridwar or Hilly areas:
Installation of Chemical earthing are as follows:-
First, Make the pit in 400x400x300mm. then bore a hole (Día=120mm,length= 3m) in the center of pit.
Then fill bentonite chemical compound in the hole up to 400mm and fill the water. Bentonite-Keep the Humidity level in the soil, which enhances the conductivity of the soil.
Then fill water into the hole and wait for 8-10 hours to dry out or pass water into the underground.
Then kept the chemical electrode on the hole, but the terminal ends upright at the end of the hole.
Fill the hole with the mixture of bentonite and water completely and pour the water if needed, then tighten the compound.
Then second last step, The galvanized iron strip of dia, 40x3 laid into a trench 30mm below the ground, with one end of galvanized iron strip connected with the top of the electrode in parallel to the projection and end of the GI strip directly connected to the equipment.
The last step, Earth pit resistance test with the help of an OHM meter. The resistance should be a range of 1 OHM to 5 OHM
What are the measure Suspect which we have to follows:-
1.Don't installed electrode close to the building whose situated system is connected with earthed at least more than 2 meter way.
2.Always used same wire and same electrode material for better result.
3.Electrode should placed in a vertical position inside the earth or pit
4.Always remember earth resistence should be low so that current flow suffient to operate the protective relays or below fuses.

Recent Chemical Earthing News -"Do You know about the pandemic situation that has happened at Haridwar har ki Pauri ghat and damages transformer, collapse wall due to Lightning strikes happen?
Har ki Pauri Ghat is one of the biggest ghats in Haridwar where the river Ganga flows As you know Haridwar is a very beautiful place in North India Uttarakhand where the Ganga's river comes from top Himalaya Everyone comes to visit haridwar for peace but recently lightning strikes was happen at har ki pauri : haridwar where lightening strike hit to the transformer directly and also damage the wall area of the har ki pauri. If Lightning Arrester was set with ground chemical earthing near har ki pauri than it might be a possibility that no lightning strikes was happen. As per reports, no one is injured in the incident So that's why chemical earthing in haridwar is so much important. It helps to protect from short circuit, leakage of current, current fluctuation, high voltage, electrical shock, fault current, lightning etc.
